This child care has been serving the Thurmont and surrounding areas since 1987. New ownership took place in 2021.
Brittany and Ronald Fritz kept the vision alive when they took ownership. In fact, Brittany began her child care career at Thurmont Child Care when she was 16 years old.
Brittany has dedicated her time to ensure that the needs of the community are met. With that said, the programs provided at our sites are nurturing and positive; while providing a high quality learning environment for all students.
Rooms
Infants
We have two infant classrooms for ages 6 weeks-24 months.
We provide a nurturing and safe environment.
Ours learn through play and comfort.
Toddlers
We have two toddler classrooms for ages 18 months- 24 months.
As these children begin to be more mobile, we introduce the little learners into a classroom with more routine and activities.
Preschool for Twos- Five Years Old
We have one classroom for Preschool Two's and one for our mixed three- five year old's.
In our two's we begin the structure of preschool and as they enter our three- five year old preschool we introduce concepts to get ready for Kindergarten.
State Funded Pre-K
We have twenty-seven seats that are funded by MSDE for families who meet the requirements of income. Certified teachers and individuals with bachelor degrees work within the grant to provide a classroom that meets the Maryland learning standards. This program runs from the end of August through the beginning of June. 180 days for 6.5 hours a day Monday- Friday.
TCC @ EES
We have a school program at Emmitsburg Elementary School.
This program serves children in Pre-K through Fifth Grade.
In the summer, this program will offer a daily summer camp with hands on activities.
TCC @ TPS
We have a school program at Thurmont Primary School.
This program serves children in Pre-K through Second Grade.
In the summer, this program will offer a daily summer camp with hands on activities.
TCC @ TES
We have a school program at Thurmont Elementary School.
This program serves children in Third through Fifth Grade.
In the summer, this program will offer a daily summer camp with hands on activities.
Mission and Goal
Our mission is to care and educate every child, while helping them succeed in all aspects of life; as well as, meeting the varied needs of each individual child and family. Through our planned and structured mornings, while still taking advantage of simple everyday learning opportunities and free play in the afternoons, our main goal is to enhance each child’s total growth by….
1) Providing a wide-range of experiences that foster learning, creativity, and problem solving in all areas of development while striving to focus on the child’s interest
2) Developing the child’s sense of self-worth
3) Providing a variety of field trips
4) Encouraging parent involvement
5) Providing staff that are caring and well qualified

I'm so happy that my 3 kids are being part of such a wonderful daycare center. The staff and teachers are really amazing. My oldest never wants to leave the daycare and always questions me when I pick him up because he wants to spend more time there! I love the fact that the caregivers comfort my baby girl with a lot of hugs until she is not upset anymore! My baby boy is 5 months old, it is so sweet to see his eyes light up when he see's his caregiver, Ms. Lydia. I couldn't ask for a better family oriented daycare.

I can't recommend Thurmont Child Care enough. Our daughter started there when she was just 3 months, and now she's getting ready to turn 3 this November. Watching her grow into such a smart, confident, kind little girl has been incredible, and so much of that is thanks to the amazing teachers and staff who have loved and encouraged her every single day. She's learned so much, made wonderful friends, and comes home to tell us about all the fun activities, crafts, and adventures they do.

Thurmont Child Care provides a high-quality, curriculum rich learning environment. My
grandchildren have attended for many years, and they enjoy going each day. The
teachers are caring, creative and patient. They meet the needs of each child and help
them grow. They keep parents posted on behavior and growth. They also are attuned
to safety of the children. In the summer they provide weekly field trips. Plus, they are
accredited by the State of Maryland. Your child will blossom at TCC.
